The Venue

With STAND UP GUY and somedaysbetter

Our first gig in absolutely ages, debuting the new line-up and some new material. There was a big crowd and we played very well, but to be honest, the fact that it was Stand Up Guy's CD Launch gig, and the place was filled with straight-edgers and all sorts for Somedaysbetter (Hornby Core!), meant we weren't as well recieved as we could've been. We went on first, without much of a soundcheck, and since we hadn't played in yonks, we were very nervous, to say the least.

Kicking off with revamped old song 'Skarekrow', then straight into 'Scum', we hit the audience in the face with a big brutal slab of our shit. Then we pounded our way through 'Puppethead', 'Cut The Cable', 'Redrum' and new song 'See You In Hell'. Admittedly, we played well, but a few lapses from Michael slowed the proceeedings down (WE AREN'T SLUDGECORE!!!) and that kinda pissed me off. Dave's samples worked well, but the sound guy seemed to think that once all the sounds were set, he could turn them down again (don't ask me, I don't understand either), so the samples and scratching didn't turn out as well as they should have - particularly because Dave had to plug the sampler through the mixer on his decks in order to hear it and thus sacrificing sound quality. Apart from the bad sound mix, the set sounded okay. And alas, off we went.

Then I went and got drunk and ate some food. And for the first time ever, I didn't get the runs from the chips. I was well happy then.
